Italy’s Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA will be playing on Wednesday night Poland’s PGE Atom Trefl SOPOT for a crucial match in Pool B of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women.
Italian mentor Luciano Pedullà feels confident about his team’s chances to achieve a good result: «When we played SOPOT two weeks ago, we definitely made too many mistakes, above all with our service: eleven errors in this fundamental are a way too much, especially if your serving is not good enough to create some difficulties to the opponents. For sure, we also did not attack well, even if the stats are not so bad, and we can pass a lot better than we did. For us, the home game will be an “in or out” match and we are confident about our chances because we will play in our city, in front of our supporters and we are much focussed on the game. We won three games in a row after losing in Sopot and this positive streak has had a good impact on our morale, which is very important to approach such an important game in the best possible way.»
His words are echoed by young Italian middle blocker Sara Bonifacio: «We are still disappointed for having lost the game in Sopot so badly and we are really focussed and determined to get our revenge in Novara, also because we need a success to keep fighting for a spot in the Playoffs. We are not scared: we know that we will face a strong opponent but we also know that we can play without any fear also against the strongest teams, especially when we perform our best. It’s my first time in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League and I am very happy to play the finest club competition there is out there, also because I was part of the team who got the right to join it last year. As for our goals, we work to improve, game by game, and also to make our European campaign last as long as possible. In order to achieve that goal, the game with Sopot is just crucial: this is the reason why we are happy to play this match in front of our wonderful fans. With their help, we can make it.»
